Clutter's Park (Imperial Hill)

A small park in El Segundo sitting on an incline that lifts you just above the southern boundary of LAX, giving a clean view across the south complex. The classic spot for departures heading out over the ocean, and you can see the widebodies at the international terminal from here. On overcast days aircraft climb straight into the cloud deck, which is a distinctive look. Shaded seating available. A well-known gathering point for aviation streamers and photographers.

Best time

Open 05:00-22:00. Weekday mornings are quieter and parking is easier. Best during west flow, which is the LAX default.

Street parking on and around E Imperial Ave. Manageable on weekday mornings, busy at weekends.
