Rio Salado Path Aircraft Viewing

A stretch of the Rio Salado bike path on the south side of Sky Harbor that brings you close to arriving and departing aircraft. Accessible on foot or by bike, and reachable on Valley Metro - from the University/40th Street stop it is roughly a 250m walk. Quiet, uncrowded, and particularly good at sunrise and sunset when the desert light is at its best. No restrooms anywhere nearby.

Best time

Sunrise and sunset are the standout windows for light. Summer midday heat in Phoenix is genuinely dangerous - bring water and avoid peak afternoon.

Parking

Limited parking near 40th Street. Valley Metro light rail plus a short walk is the practical option. No restrooms.
