Zeppelinheim Viewing Platform

An elevated platform at the eastern end of Runway 07R/25L, raised above the boundary fence so you get unobstructed shots over the top. Also gives a good view of 07C/25C. Aircraft taxi past extremely close - close enough that wingtips feel within reach. A handful of light poles are the only real obstruction. One of the best free spotting facilities in Europe.

70-200mm for taxiing aircraft passing close by; 100-400mm for runway movements further out.

Best time

Open 24 hours. Morning light is best - after roughly 15:00 the sun moves behind the subject, though walking north along the path gives you the other angle.

Parking

Park at the Luftbrückendenkmal and walk about 8 minutes, or use the nearer lot around 200m away. Reachable by bus X77 from Gateway Gardens or Terminal 3, then a 5-minute walk. No toilets nearby.
