Melbourne Aircraft Viewing Area (Operations Road)

The southern viewing area, giving a longer view down the runway and a better angle on southerly takeoffs and approaches. Quieter than the Oaklands Road site, with easy car access and roadside parking. Good for Runway 34 landings, where aircraft pass low overhead. No toilets or food - bring what you need.

100-400mm for the runway; 24-70mm for aircraft passing directly overhead on 34.

Best time

Best during southerly operations. Quieter than the northern site at all times.
